flippin' idiots

i knew this would happen, and yet i'm still pissed off. TAing is its own sort of hell. given, most of the day went smoothly; the students blithely went about their ungodly easy work of making dilutions and streaking out plates. but of course, the two sorority girls who sit front and center and work together had to go ahead and be so fucking dumb that they (and thus *we*) were there for an hour after everyone else had left. i literally had to walk them through every calculation then watch them as they made every dilution because inevitably they would forget what the initial concentration was, or use their starting solution for the third step of a serial dilution. also, you would think that 4th year students in a biology course would realize that "u," "manuel," and "alot" are not words; but recent emails have proved otherwise. next week we're doing chromosomal preps.... i pleaded with them to read over the protocol at least once. we'll see what happens.
